Legend goes.....
St. Martin lies just outside the village of Cetturu and a stone's throw from La Truite d'Argent. Excavations have shown that a Celtic settlement arose here from the 2nd century where people lived in the Middle Ages. A sort of Asterix and Obelix village.
According to legend, in this settlement was struck by the plague and seven of the inhabitants survived. They found a new place to live a bit further away and named it after their fortune: 'sept heureuses' (seven happy ones); hence Cetturu.
St. Martin remained abandoned. The only thing you still see are the contours of the walls surrounded by sturdy beech trees. At that time, these sacred trees served to protect the village from the North Wind and other misfortune. Now they mark this magical place that you can discover yourself during our walking routes.
Today, Cetturu is a tiny typical Ardennes village with - of course - a church built in the Middle Ages where, apart from the changing of the seasons and the bellowing of the deer, not much happens. And that's exactly its charm...
